What's New in Dentrix

New features to help your team be more productive and more profitable.

The April 2024 release of Dentrix includes these features:

Assign Dependent Coverage Outside of Family (24.6)

Assigning insurance plans between subscribers and dependents has never been simpler! The redesigned subscriber selection menu provides faster access to all family members who are subscribers to a plan. Beside each name is listed the plan and subscriber’s ID, making it easy to identify the plan you are looking for!
The menu also includes an option “Assign dependent coverage outside family.” Select this to select any insurance subscriber within Dentrix and assign their insurance plan to the dependent patient.

Bulk Information Changes (24.6)

After creating a custom list through Letters & Custom Lists, the Dentrix List Manager allows you to select multiple patients and change their patient status or assigned fee schedules as a group.

Dentrix Workstation Setup Utility (24.6)

A new customer self-service utility is available through www.Dentrix.com/WorskationInstall that simplifies installing Dentrix on a workstation computer. It assists you by searching the network to locate the Dentrix server and prompts for correct network permissions so that the install can complete with fewer “surprise” interruptions.

New Patient Workflow (24.7)

When you create new patient appointments, you will now create a non-patient record. This allows you begin entering all known patient information, which may include entering their insurance information, updating health history, adding a patient picture, or attaching documentation in the Document Center. When the patient has procedure information completed for the first time, Dentrix also updates their status to “Patient” and enters the first visit date information for you.

The Appointment List now includes an “Unscheduled New Patient” list option, helping you track and delete or archive the records for new patients who broke their appointment.

Miscellaneous Features

Installation Progress Indicator (24.7)
The full installation of Dentrix was changed to include text that better informs you of the installation’s progress (for example, “Stage 3/8”).

New Settings Change Notification (24.8)

Many of the settings found under Office Manager → Maintenance → Practice Setup require Dentrix to be restarted or the module refreshed for changes to take effect. To help avoid confusion and unnecessary troubleshooting from support, a reminder message has been added to the top of the menu.

Password Permission Templates (24.8)

In User Password Setup, five new default permission templates have been created to help quickly set up users and permissions. These are especially helpful for new Dentrix installations.

  • _Owner/Manager Template
  • _Doctor Template
  • _Admin Template
  • _Clinical Template
  • _Temp/Clinical Template

Steps in illustration:

  1. Select a provider or staff member.
  2. Select a template.
