What's New in Dentrix

New features to help your team be more productive and more profitable.

The January 2026 releases of Dentrix include the following features:

Family File

  • A Help menu was added allowing you to view the Help, connect to the Resource Center, leave feedback, or submit ideas for improving Dentrix.

Claims Manager

  • The redesigned Claims Manager is available to Beta offices to view and try out.

Insurance Claim and Preauthorization

  • The Itemize Payment dialog box is now called the Itemize By Procedure dialog box. You can use the Itemize By Procedure dialog box to know which procedure you are entering itemized payments for.
  • Procedures now remain highlighted in the Insurance Claim and Pre-authorization windows when you enter itemized payments or pre-estimates.

Dentrix Imaging

  • The Compare, Share, Delete, Reassign, and Retake buttons were redesigned and are now more visible.
  • You can now use a keyboard shortcut (X) to start acquiring intraoral X-rays in either advanced or simple acquisition mode.
  • A panel was added that appears when Image Check AI finds discrepancies with the image.
  • Labels were added to the Image Check side panel during advanced mode acquisition.
  • An error message was added to Simple Mode preferences in case an invalid tooth range was selected.
  • You can now enable Image Enhancement as the default setting for images captured using Simple Mode Acquisition.

Miscellaneous

  • You can now set a date range when you run the Family Ledger Report.
  • A new Family Ledger Report was added to the Dentrix Reports window.
  • If you have enabled Dentrix Pay, the Dentrix Pay option appears in the Appointment menu when you right-click an appointment block.
  • In Health History, whenever an error occurs, the Save Signature button is disabled in the Capture Patient’s Signature and the Capture Provider’s Signature dialog boxes.
  • When a patient adds or sets an employer (including address and phone number) in Forms, that information is assigned to that patient’s record in the Dentrix database.
  • A disclaimer was added to the Eligibility Pro Response Report stating that the report is for informational purposes only. The information contained in the report is derived from the indicated insurance and is not construed as a guarantee of payment. Inquiries should be directed to the insurance company.
  • Tool tips were added to the single-letter icons in the Progress Notes panel in the Patient Chart.
  • By default, the Imaging panel appears automatically whenever you open the Patient Chart.
  • The text of the message that appears when you click No in the Claims Attachment dialog box was updated.
  • The Edit icon (pencil) in the Claim Status Notes dialog box is now enabled.

Bug Fixes

  • Cancelling an uninstall prevented automatic installs from occurring. (26.1)
  • You were not prompted to re-enter your username and password when you tried to open features that required you to verify your access. (26.1)
  • When you opened the Lab Case Manager, multiple instances of the Lab Case Manager appeared. (26.1)
  • Patients were incorrectly charged late fees and finance charges. (26.1)
  • The date filter in the new Claim Manager window did not include the Custom Range option. (26.1)
  • In the Dental Insurance Benefits and Coverage window, if you imported Preventive deductibles and then tried to revert them to their previous values, they did not revert correctly. (26.1)
  • An eligibility response added a new category to the Dental Insurance Benefits and Coverage window, but a change indicator did not appear next to the new category. (26.1)
  • An error message incorrectly appeared when a page was removed from a multi-page document, and the document was updated in the Document Center. (26.1)
  • Opening multiple modules was slow. (26.1)
  • You could not delete offsetting adjustments in the Ledger. (26.1)
  • Insurance payments did not appear in the Ledger until you clicked the Refresh toolbar button. (26.1)
  • When you edited insurance payments, the amount was incorrectly rounded to the nearest dollar. (26.1)
  • You could not print treatment plans. (26.1)
  • If you switched to the new Insurance Claim window, an error message appeared. (26.1)
  • Images were being converted for the wrong patient. (26.1)
  • An error occurred when 3D volume exams were shared. (26.1)
  • An error occurred when you opened the Rearrange exam dialog box and had an empty slot selected. (26.1)
  • An error occurred when an exam was reassigned and all of the images were not assigned to the new patient. (26.1)
  • Dentrix Imaging incorrectly defaulted to a Carestream device when you tried to acquire a 2D photo. (26.1)
  • In the Appointment Book, clicking the Health History Notes icon in an appointment block incorrectly opened the Eligibilities menu. (26.2)
  • Outdated configuration files were not cleared during installation. (26.2)
  • After you started the electronic statement process, an unhandled exception occurred when you itemized payments. (26.2)
  • If you generated a claim and then opened the redesigned insurance claim window, the claim window was blank. (26.2)
  • In the redesigned Itemize By Procedure dialog box, you could not edit the Amount Paid field until you deleted the current amount. (26.2)
  • In Dentrix Imaging, the Flipped checkbox is now inactive in the tiled view. (26.2)
  • In Dentrix Imaging, all recovery options are now accessible at minimum resolution. (26.2)
  • In Dentrix Imaging, disabled image stack arrows no longer respond to keyboard input. (26.2)
  • In Dentrix Imaging, you can now only select bitewing teeth in a 1 BW procedure. (26.2)
  • In Dentrix Imaging, the Back and Next buttons now function once you reselect an image. (26.2)
  • In Dentrix Imaging, the Tools tab is now disabled when you select the AIDE view. (26.2)
  • In Dentrix Imaging, image stacks were sometimes missing from the Overview. (26.2)
